This is a great option if you want to carry around lumber, ladders, even kayaks on your truck. And if you have a short bed like what we have here, you do need that extension to carry those around.You can use this load extender in two positions. Right here, we have it so that it is level with our truck bed. So you can see that if you want to extend your truck bed, lie something flat on here and have it supported at the end, this is the option you want to go with. more

Today, on our 2013 RAM 2500. We're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima Longarm Bed and Roof Load Extender, part number Y01149-1150. Now, if you've already purchased the Yakima Longarm bed extender, and you just need the roof load extender, the part number for that is Y01150. With a bed extender, you're going to be able to carry elongated loads in the bed of your truck. It's especially useful for the short bed trucks, or if you have toolbox in the bed of your truck like our RAM does.Now, while we have a kayak installed right now, you can also use this in the work field for ladders, lumber, really anything to that nature. We have four different tie down points on our bed extender, to secure whatever load we might have. more

Darby Extend-A-Truck Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2014 Ram 1500- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Ram 1500, we're going to be taking a look at the Darby Extend-a-truck, part number DTA944. Now, I know we've all be in that situation where we need to carry either a ladder, some wood, or whatever it may be, but it's going to be larger than our truck bed. Now, I don't feel very comfortable just having my ladder hanging out off the back of my truck with several feet hanging off without any support. But that's where our Darby Extend-a-truck is going to come in.It's going to give us that extra support for the long loads that we may need to carry, making sure everything's nice and secure. It's going to be a two piece design. The first piece is going to go into our hitch, and the outer piece is going to adjustable, so we're going to be able to set different height settings depending on where you want your load to sit.Now, the Extend-a-truck is designed to work with two inch by two inch received tubes only. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ram 1500, we're gonna be test fitting the Darby Extend-A-Truck Hitch Mounted Load Extender. Part number DTA944.This extension will allow you to safely haul 12-foot ladders, long lumber, poles, rods, whatever you need in the back of your truck at a much larger length than you would normally be able to.It's gonna add 49 inches to the length of your truck bed. So, it will turn your six and a-half-foot bed into a 10 1/2 foot bed or your eight-foot bed into a 12-foot bed.The load bar extender's gonna be four-feet wide, so, you can carry multiple loads side by side. There's gonna be a location for tie down straps on each end of the bar. So, this way you can tie down your loads with bungee straps or ratchet straps. It'll fit directly into your two-inch receiver and come to the pin and clip to secure it.The load bar has an adjustable height to match your truck bed's tailgate. more

Erickson Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2016 Ram 2500- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Ram 2500 crew cab, we're gonna be doing a test fit of the Erickson Big Bed Junior Load Extender for truck beds, part number EM07605. The Big Bed Junior's gonna allow you to carry extended loads on your Ram, with a weight capacity of up to 350 pounds. It's perfect for canoes, kayaks, construction, or tailgating. With it in the horizontal position, we'll go ahead and give you some measurements. Our ground clearance here at the very back, about 23 inches. Then from our bumper, overall, we've added about 49 1/2 inches and finally from our tailgate, about 33 inches. more
